- Is it safe?
- With a flash point of 150°C, biodiesel is classified as a non-flammable liquid. This property makes a vehicle
fuelled by pure biodiesel far safer in an accident than one powered by petroleum diesel or the explosively
combustible petrol.
- Will it work all year round?
- Precautions must be taken in very cold climates, where biodiesel may gel at higher temperatures than petroleum
diesel. To counteract this, additives can be incorporated into the production process.
- How is it made?
- Biodiesel is made through a chemical process called transesterification whereby the glycerin is separated from
the fat or vegetable oil. The process leaves behind two products -- methyl esters (the chemical name for
biodiesel) and glycerin. Glycerin also has a value as a product like soap or can be used as a fuel for burners.
- Will it affect my engine?
- Biodiesel also has superior lubricity, which reduces wear and tear on the engine and can increase the life of engine
components. In addition, it is a mild solvent that will help clean your fuel system.
- What about the warranty on my engine?
- As we are moving toward a future of biofuels, more and more manufacturers are providing warranties for vehicles running on
biofuel. You may need to check with your vehicle supplier for further reference.
- How can you guarantee that your biodiesel is of a superior quality?
- We make our biodiesel to the exacting standards of EN14214 for biodiesel and EN590 for normal diesel. We also
test each batch and keep samples of all our batches to comply with our audit procedures. Our products are quality controlled
and our feedstock is high quality virgin oils or refined waste oil.
